City of Little Rock Parks and Recreation Master Plan

City of Little Rock Parks and Recreation Master Plan

LOCATION:  Little Rock, Arkansas

The City of Little Rock commissioned a team to prepare a comprehensive parks, recreation, and open space master plan for the 100-square-mile capital city with a population of 200,000. ($165,000 project fee) The plan for the 5,000-acre park system addressed land acquisition and development, recreation programs, and existing and future park facilities, as well as management, operations and programs of the Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department. The community’s vision of creating a “City in a Park” was developed through a series of workshops. The Master Plan coincided with the City of Little Rock’s “Vision Little Rock,” a community-wide goal setting process, and was based on extensive and inclusive community participation.
