Stormwater Design Criteria Manual

Stormwater Design Criteria Manual

LOCATION:  Rogers, Arkansas

In 1989, the City of Rogers determined it was necessary to establish standard criteria for developers and engineers to follow for drainage designs associated with development projects. The City of Rogers hired Crafton Tull and their subconsultant Wright Water Engineers of Denver, CO to write their first drainage manual. After more than 15 years of that manual serving the City well during unprecedented times of growth, the City again hired the team of Crafton Tull and WWE to update the manual in 2008. The update turned into a redrafting of the manual to make it more user-friendly for the City’s reviewing engineers and design professionals. The update brings the manual up to current state of the practice in design of quantity control measures and will be the first manual in Northwest Arkansas to incorporate Water Quality Best Management Practices as a requirement for developments. Included in the manual is a detailed guidance on the design, construction, and maintenance of stormwater quantity, quality, and construction phase erosion control BMPs. Our team also developed design spreadsheets for the water quality BMPs to aid in implementation by less experienced designers and standardize the design review for City staff.
