LOCATION: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The City of Oklahoma City hired Crafton Tull to evaluate and propose solutions to expand the size of this existing sanitary sewer line. The old main was a 20,000’ section of 30” sanitary sewer line paralleling to the North Canadian River from Council Avenue to Meridian Boulevard. The existing line is undersized and has several creek crossings (aerials and siphons) that create continuous maintenance problems for the city. Our team evaluated the alignment and proposed constructing a new 48” sewer main to relieve the existing main. The alignment selected was the most economical option and avoided any new siphons, a requirement of the city. We also included as part of the plan a bid-alternative to slipline the existing 30” sewer pipe. Our team provided the best cost savings by utilizing standard trench and direct-bury installation.
