Crafton Tull provided structural engineering services for this 40-Acre site. This new three-story replacement hospital was built along a hillside with a partial basement. The foundations is made of concrete-drilled piers and grade beams as per the American Concrete Institute standards. The superstructure is comprised of steel-framed columns supporting a composite floor beam and girder system, with the roof being a metal deck system supported by steel joists and steel girders. Special concentrically-braced steel frames and special steel monument frames were required for lateral stability due to the building’s occupancy and seismic site criteria. Additionally, the steel frame was modeled and designed using 3-D analysis software. Landscape architecture services included planting design, irrigation system design, design of an outdoor dining terrace and fountain, as well as a donors plaza area.
