Gallagher Iba Arena

Gallagher Iba Arena

LOCATION:  Stillwater, Oklahoma

A 62-year-old basketball arena on the campus of Oklahoma State University needed to double seating capacity while holding onto the intimidating and historic atmosphere and intimate setting of the existing Gallagher-Iba Arena. Our design called for building around the existing structure, eventually removing the roof to join the existing lower bowls with a new upper bowl. The renovation accomplished maintaining the historical character of the existing architecture and the original 62-year-old white maple floor. Seating was expanded to 13,600 seats from the original 6,318 and fan circulation was improved with new entrances, elevators, and escalators. A new concourse level with additional concession areas and restrooms was added and new, luxury skyboxes located on the west side of the arena now provide viewing of both basketball and football events. Ticket operations were also improved as part of the project.
