QuikTrip Park

QuikTrip Park at Grand Prairie

LOCATION:  Grand Prairie, Texas

The City of Grand Prairie, Texas wanted a minor league professional baseball team within its city limits to add to the economic development and quality of life for its residents. The City and the Team wanted a ballpark that would fit within an existing development district where Lone Star Park (horse racing) and the Nokia Theater (performing arts center) were currently located. Crafton Tull designed a state of the art ballpark. The ballpark seats 4,200 fans with typical amenities of restrooms, concessions, good sightlines to the field, and ease of egress and circulation. Unique amenities include a progressive boardwalk surrounding the entire ball field with the Wide World of Parks Kids Zone, pool, cigar bar, restaurant and bar, suites, party decks and unique seating options. The stadium's grand opening was held on May 16, 2008.  Crafton Tull, in conjunction with the Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Department, developed plans for a playground which connects to the stadium. The Wide World of Parks was designed to provide experiences found in many of the parks in the Grand Prairie park system. Besides a jungle gym and playground with rock climbing, it features miniature golf and a miniature baseball diamond, basketball courts and a performing arts area. Also included in the park design was a mist fountain, an entry kiosk, concession terrace and storage building.
